Alister Black will travel to Winton tomorrow with four runners for the local meeting on the Central Southland Raceway.

“A standing joke when we had a Wai key competition (Trotter) and he went pretty well, was that I told Paul McMcentyre (co-owner) ‘Don’t tell Arty’. When we bought this horse at the sale ($ 41,000) we didn’t like his name (maybe love). And they all thought it was a great name.
The three -year -old has had a lot of practice because they had two tests and five training sessions.
At the breeding company, his second Dam Solar Fire won fourteen, including the Nieuw -Zeeland and Victoria Die Derbies, Victoria Oaks and the New Zealand Trotting Championship.
“He has a motorcycle, but he is a bit of a trick and we work a few things. He goes to the training sessions with only two or three in it and he learns nothing. Recently he probably trotted the best that he ever has. When I came out again. I couldn’t support him at all with some trust.

“You would not play cards with him. He recently hit the line well and Georgia (Goodman) did a fantastic work. You don’t know which horse is going to pop up. If he pops up and brings his best foot forward, he will win that race. If you have him top four, you have an eightenty percent chance to get a collect.”
