One of the “Secret Ball Projects” by Bryson Dechambeau is in the wild in the world of professional wave, and Cam Young has just won it.
Young made the headlines last week and dominated the field on the PGA Tour Regular seasonal Wyndham championship with a new prototype titleistic golf ball.
The Pro V1X Double Dot is a new custom performance option (CPO) – made in the same vain as the more well -known Pro V1X Left Dash and Pro V1 Left Dot – to adjust performance needs for some of the best players in the world.
Now Bryson Dephambeau, who has long been amazing about needing another golf ball that runs less and flies around, brings the ball into the game in Liv Golf Chicago this week. Last year, Dechambeau won US Open with the Pro V1X Left Dash-De Most Best Best and immediately available for the Public Titleist CPO but this season switched to the latest version of the higher and Spinner Pro V1X.
Last month on the Open Championship, after a remarkable 65 after an opening round 78 at Royal Portush, Deschambeau teased that he was testing a new golf ball.
“I work with someone who gets a ball that works better for my speeds,” said Decchambeau, who has completed T10 in Noord -Ireland that week. “Hopefully there are more improvements to be made. That is something that I hope to complete the following year.”
“I need help here. I got it too high. I tried to lower my flight, but I compress it very hard and I turn it like a madman, and then on my wedges, I don’t play it. It is launching high without a spider. I work on a few things to help get that launch while he checks the spider.
“That is what I worked on a bit and saw if there was a more stable ball in windy circumstances early in the week. Weekend.”
In Liv Golf Chicago this week, DeChambeau de Johnny Wunder van Golf told the new double dot ball with each club flying about 20-30 feet lower than his previous golf ball. He also sees less spider with the golf ball.
A lower peak height and less spider are great for a unique player such as Deschambeau who is one of the fastest players in professional wave and often struggles with a high ball flight. But what was the most important thing for Deschambeau was that he got a flatter landing angle with the new ball. He wants his ball to get more in the greens like an airplane than like a rock.

Young switched last week to the same Double Dot prototype on the Wyndham Championship and then took his long-awaited first PGA Tour title.
“It has just been something we have worked on for the past nine, 10 months,” said Young Sunday evening, after his breakthrough victory. “It looks very, very much what I played earlier, it is just a little bit different. As you said, it is a new Pro V1X prototype. I think it certainly contributed to a part of the good game this week, so I am enthusiastic about the coming weeks.
“I have always been a super high spider person, so it’s really just trying to manage that. And since I hit it pretty hard, so if I hit it hard and hit it a lot, it just generates spider, so it just tries to manage that.”
Young and Deschambeau are not the only players in the new prototype. Tony Finau, who previously played the Pro V1 Left Dot, has put the new Double Dot prototype in the game. Interesting that Finau told Golfwrx in a video on their twitter page that the ball launched higher And Lower for him, which is the “perfect combo”.
“Especially in recent months I seem to be running my driver more than I would like,” Finau told Golfwrx in Memphis. “I applied a shaft change about a month ago and that was helped, but the spider numbers are still a bit high. I switched to this ball and it is a few hundred revolutions lower, so without changing equipment, that’s great.”

The new Opus SP -Wiggen from Callaway have already seen a strong acceptance in prototyping and the final retail product has been added to the bags of various large tour professionals.
FedEx St. Jude Championship first round leader Akshay Bhatia, Thomas Detry, Erik van Rooyen, Max Greyserman and Chris Kirk belong to Callaway Staff employees who have added full sets of the new WIG in the bag. Si Woo Kim and Emiliano Grillo have added new Lob -wiggen and Min Woo Lee and Xander Schauffele have put in new Gap -Wiggen.
The last comment about the GAP -Wiggen is not surprising because many of the form changes on the new Opus SP line have been to the GAP -Wiggen to help them flow out from Callaway Iron sets.
With the new MG5 line from Taylormade, employees Tommy Fleetwood and Collin Morikawa are in full sets of the new line, while non-Staffers Ben Griffin and Chris Gotterup have added both MG5 Sand and Lob-Wiggen to their setups. Earlier this summer, Griffin switched to the predecessor of the MG5, MG Proto, just like Fleetwood.
