Influencer -boxer Tristan Hamm had the opportunity on Thursday to spar former interim -those Welterweight champion Colby Covington.
Hamm is a boxer in misfits and after he saw other influencers together by Covington, he wanted to spar the former interim champion himself.
“Everyone keeps sending me their sparrings with Bryce Hall and Jarvis, and nobody has been able to touch him. He just broke everyone around,” Hamm said to bjpenn.com. “So it was like, let’s put myself in and see how I do against him. I think the images speak for him. We have uncovered many influencers in that sparring competition.”
Hamm and Covington did two, three minutes round laps. In the run -up to the fight, Hamm was not sure something to expect, but he believes that he did much better than people would have thought, and showing the images.

“My expectation was that we would both be light and there would be a serious separation of the level. I worked with many UFC hunters, but I just didn’t know what to expect with a champion,” Hamm said. “Colby is a champion, he was an interim champion, he is still active, he is now in the camp, he is sharp. Yes, he is a bit older, but you can’t take that from him. He showed these influencers as a joke. I expected it would be a challenge, but I think I had my ground.”
Although Tristan Hamm believes he stood on the floor, he thinks he would have done it even better if they had played in a ring. Hamm believes that he could cut Colby Covington more and had more success.
“One thing is, we didn’t have a ring. I think it looked better even with a ring,” Hamm added. “The second that I started warming up was on his back foot. I have nothing but respect for him, he is a real Gladiator, but I showed in his two rounds that there is no influence that can handle me.”
In the end, Tristan Hamm only grew in confidence after sparring Colby Covington. He also believes that if they ever box, it is really a 50-50 fight and one that he can win.
“If we are real, the UFC boys have a different type of sparring and you learn so much from them. I have a shiner; he got some shots. But the man has hands, and everyone who takes it away from him is ridiculous. I absolutely left him.
For now, Hamm is hopeful to return to the Ring for Misfits later this year.
