An Indigo flight from Mumbai to the Phuket of Thailand was diverted to Chennai in the aftermath of a safety threat on board the aircraft, said a statement from the airlines on Friday.
The flight will undergo the necessary security checks before it can take off, it added. However, the commercial airline has not specified what kind of security threat has experienced the flight on board.
“Indigo Flight 6th 1089, which operated from Mumbai to Phuket on September 19, 2025 to Phuket, was diverted to Chennai due to a security threat noticed on board. According to the established protocol, relevant authorities were immediately informed and the flight will undergo the necessary security checks,” said an official statement. “
Due to an evening clock at Phuket airport, the resumption of the trip is planned accordingly.
“We make all the efforts to minimize the inconvenience for customers, including offering refreshments and sharing regular updates with them. As always, the safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft is our best priority,” Indigo said.
This came just a few days after an Indigo flight with 151 passengers, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, was forced to break down the start after he was not properly lifted at Lucknow Airport.
The incident took place when the Delhi-bound flight approached the end of the runway. Eyewitnesses and airport officials said the plane had difficulty becoming in the air.
The pilot acted quickly and applied emergency braking to bring the aircraft to a full stop, preventing a potential landing job overrun. All 151 passengers and crew were safely left without injury.
