The coal import in India fell by 1.7 percent to 263.56 million tons in the financial year 2024-25.
The coal import of the country was 268.24 million tons (MT) in 2023-24.
During 2024-25, non-Coking Kolenimport 167.10 MT, lower than 175.96 MT was imported into the previous year. The import of coal was in 2024-25 at 54.08 MT against 57.22 MT in 2023-24.
According to data drawn up by Mjunction Services Ltd-a B2B e-commerce platform-coal Import In March, more than 23.96 MT also fell to 22.79 MT in the period of a year ago.
Of the total entry in March, non-Cokes coal input was 14.84 MT, imported into the same month last year compared to 15.33 MT. The import of Kolenimport was 4.41 MT, imported in March 2024 compared to 5.34 MT.
Mjunction MD & CEO Vinaya Varma said: “There was a decrease in the input volume in March (and in 2024-25), which was in line with the market forecast. Since the domestic market remains full with a high stock (from non-Cocking coal), we expect the appetite for the question in the question.”
The cumulative coal production in 2024-25 crossed one billion tonne mark and reached 1,047.57 MT (for the time being), compared to 997.83 MT in 2023-24, with a growth of 4.99 percent.
The Ministry of Coal said that it is committed to promoting self -reliance, reducing import dependence and stimulating sustainable mining practices to strengthen the energy -firedness and economic resilience of the nation.
