New Delhi:

A man from the Indian Origin in the US was attacked because he has publicly called on all H-1B-VISA to walk down and that visa holders are sent back to their home country.

“All H-1B-VISA must be canceled, the program must be terminated and visa holders must be sent back to their home country. It has nothing to do with keeping America competitive. Our most important national competitors do not bring in large numbers of foreign employees,” Rohit Joy wrote on X.

Mr. Joy made the comment in response to a function of the Republican Congressman Rich McCormick, who had expressed the support for expanding domestic visa innovations for H-1B and other visa holders with a low risk.

“Last week I became a member of a dual pressure to expand domestic visa innovations for H-1B and other visa holders with a low risk. It is time to modernize our visa system by reducing costs, to increase efficiency and keep America competitive,” Mr. McCormick had posted.

However, many users did not agree with Mr. Joy.

“Absolutely not. The system is fully abused and is immediately responsible for Americans who lose their jobs,” wrote a user.

The H-1B visa program in the US enables employers to hire skilled foreign employees in special professions that require at least a bachelor’s degree.

H-1B-VISA is initially granted for three years and can be extended for up to six years, with further extensions that are possible for those who pursue permanent stay.

The current rules require H-1B visa holders to travel to an American embassy in their home country for extensions, which can lead to delays and uncertainty.

To tackle this problem, a pilot program was launched in 2024 to enable certain H-1B holders to renew their Visa from the US. The initiative was recommended by the Indian-American entrepreneur Ajay Jain Bhutoria.

On May 15, Mr Bhutoria, who played a key role in insisting on domestic visa innovations, shared an update about X, which in turn showed a growing momentum for the idea.

According to his official website, Mr Bhutoria “has more than 25 years of experience in stimulating global change at every level: domestic politics, foreign relations and the global technology industry.”

Mr Bhutoria wrote: “I am very happy to see dual support for domestic visa innovation! The pilot program, launched on the basis of my recommendation to the Whiaanhpi Commission & implemented by the state department, is a step forward.” Sharing the official American congress document that is addressed to State Secretary Marco Rubio added: “@secrubio, Domestic Visa Renewal is the right step. The same for sharing details!”

The letter wore the signatures of different members of the congress, including representatives of the Indian origin Subramanyam, Raja Krishnamoortthi and Ro Khanna, next to Rich McCormick, Henry C ‘Hank’ Johnson Jrr, Don Bacon and Sanford d Bishop Jr.
