India is willing to reduce 100 percent rates on American goods, the US President Donald Trump again claimed while he said that there will soon be a trade agreement between New Delhi and Washington.

In an interview with Fox News, however, Trump said that he is not in an “rush” for the proposed trade agreement.

Against the background of the repeated claim of the US President, India offers to drop all rates for American goods, said Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday in New Delhi that “every trade agreement should be for mutual beneficial”.

Trump again described India as “one of the highest rates in the world.” “They make it almost impossible to do business. Do you know that they are willing to lower 100 percent of their rates for the United States?” Said Trump.

When asked if the deal with India is coming soon, Trump said: “That will come soon. I am not in a hurry. Look, everyone wants to close a deal with us.”

Then he added: “South Korea wants to close a deal, but I am not going to close deals with everyone. I will just set the limit. I will close a few more deals. Because I can’t do it, you can’t meet so many people. I have 150 countries that want to close deals.”

India and the US hold conversations to connect a trade agreement.

On Thursday, Jaishankar said that there are trade discussions between India and the US.

“These are complicated negotiations. Nothing is decided until everything is. Every trade agreement must be beneficial for mutual; it must work for both countries,” he said.

“That would be our expectation of the trade agreement.”

Trade Minister Piyush Goyal is currently in Washington to assess the progress of the negotiations for the proposed trade agreement.

He is expected to have conversations with the American trade secretary Howard Lutnick and the American trade representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer.

To stimulate bilateral trade, India is looking for concessions for labor -intensive sectors such as textiles, gems and jewelry, leather goods, clothing, plastic, chemicals, shrimp, oils, chemicals, grapes and bananas in the proposed pact with America.

On the other hand, the US wants service concessions in sectors such as certain industrial goods, cars (in particular electric vehicles), wines, petrochemical products, dairy products, agricultural items such as apples and tree notes.
