India, led by Shubman Gill, achieved an exciting 6-run victory on the last day (Monday 4 August) of the fifth and last test of the series on the last day (Monday 4 August) of the Fifth and Last test of the series in London in London. India bounces back with the bat in the second innings
England, led by Ollie Pope, chose to first bowl in the fifth test. India stumbled early and collapsed for 23 for 2 after the resignation of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kl Rahul. Karun Nair, who made his comeback, held the innings together with a solid 57. India, however, lost their last four wickets for only 6 points.
Gus Atkinson was the striking bowler for England and claimed 5 wickets for 33 runs to bundle India for 224. In answer, openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley offered a strong foundation with a 92-run partnership.
The Pacers of India hit back in the second session. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna each took four wickets to bowen England for 247, giving the hosts a narrow 23-run lead.
In the second innings of India, Yashasvi Jaiswal led the lead with an excellent 118. Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar each contributed valuable 1950s. Sundar added 39 runs with Prasidh Krishna for the last Wicket, allowing India to reach a competitive total of 396.
