India: Indian Women’s Hockey Team Cruise past Singapore 12-0 on the Women’s Asia Cup 2025

Hangzhou, 8 September 2025: The Indian Women’s Hockey team sealed their place in the Super 4S of the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 after a thunderous 12-0 win against Singapore. Hat-tricks van Navneet (14 ‘, 20’, 28 ‘) and Mumtaz (2’, 32 ‘, 39’), together with a brace of Neha (11 ‘, 38’), led India’s attack while Lalremsiami (13 ‘), Udita (29’), Sharmila (45 ‘).

India started strong and broke the impasse within the first two minutes. Mumtaz Khan rose forward and unleashed a thunderous inverted stick of the top of the circle to open the score. The early edition kept Singapore on the rear, and although they managed to ward off the first penalty corner of India in the eighth minute, Neha doubled the advantage and poned on a rebound in the 11th minute to throw it home with an agile touch. Only two minutes later, Lalremsiami added one up close to stretch the lead to 3-0. Before the first quarter ended, Navneet converted in the 14th minute from a penalty corner to bring the score to 4-0.

While Singapore showed more resistance in the second quarter and India kept much longer periods at a distance, Navneet again made a powerful attempt to bring the score to 5-0 in the 20th minute. India continued to stack the pressure, winning a series of penalty corners, and the third of them saw Naveet blow past the goalkeeper to complete her hat trick and extend the pipe in the 28th minute. Shortly thereafter, Udita added another from a penalty corner with a composed finish, giving India a commander 7-0 lead in the half-time Hooter.

India was firmly under control in the third quarter and passed with precision and shift lanks as desired. In the 32nd minute, Lalremsiami set up Mumtaaz with a sharp pass to bring the score to 8-0. Two consecutive penalty corners unfolded for India and Neha stepped up to find the back of the net in the 38th minute. Minutes later Mumtaz sounded the shelves for the third time and India’s second hat trick of the game marked. At the end of the quarter, India won their 12th penalty corner of the meeting. Neha’s fiery strike was saved, but Sharmila came across the rebound to extend the lead to 11-0.

In the last quarter, India continued the pressure and Rutuja Pisal etched her name on the score sheet with a slick deflection in the 53rd minute. Singapore pushed hard looking for a comfort, but they couldn’t find a way because India remained dominant and ended the match with authority.

India will then be in action on 10 September when they record the second team from Pool A in the Super 4S.
