After starting the day at 145/3, Pant and Rahul continued to do what they did well on day 2. They slowly but surely closed the gap on the score of 387.

On day 3 of the third test of India-England at Lord’s, things became difficult for India when Rishabh Pant, which looked really good, was contracted for 74 just before lunch. It was a bad timing because he and Kl Rahul had built up a great 141-run partnership; Moreover, Rahul was almost a century itself.

After the start of the day at 145/3, Pant and Rahul continued to do what they did well on day 2. They slowly but surely closed the gap on the first innovative score of England of 387. Pant, even with a painful finger he had to leave the field to check out, played his usual aggressive game. He hit eight 4S and a few 6s in his tough 74 out of 112 balls. His batting really helped to swing things back in favor of India.

But exactly when it seemed like India would cruise for lunch, things fell apart. In the last before the break, Pant pushed a ball from Shoaib Bashir to coverage and tried to steal a quick single. Although Kl Rahul (who was on 98*) seemed confident about it, Ben Stokes responded quickly, grabbed the ball and threw a perfect attack to the end of the non-striker, while he caught pants, but to make it.

India had not only prevented that collaboration with Rahul from collapsing after a rough start, but it had also brought them to a good place to give England’s score a run for his money. Rahul is still beating, but losing a pants for 74 so India certainly gives the feeling that they make a big chance slip away in lunch.
