Saratoga Springs, NY – The last race of Saturday on Saratoga Race Course [Race 12]It was planned and carded at 1 1/8-mile on the Mellon Turf Course, was disputed instead at 1 1/16-MIJL due to an incorrect gate placement that was confirmed after the race was officially made.
On Saturday, the temporary rail was set on 18 feet on the Mellon Turf Course that determines an alternative starting location for the change in distance around the circumference of the inner rail of the track. However, the gate was incorrectly placed on the starting location for a race of 1 1/16-mile.
After this incident, the staff of the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) The stewards and found that the human mistakes made sure that the gate was placed in the incorrect position. NYRA has implemented measures to ensure that racing officials and stewards proactively recognize and verify the correct gate placement prior to the start of each race.
“The stewards are responsible for the supervision of the integrity of each race here on the NYRA circuit,” said Nyra Steward Victor Escobar. “We want to apologize to the bet audience, fans and racing participants for non -compliance with those standards on Saturday.”
The stewards consist of the New York State Gaming Commission Steward, the Jockey Club Steward and the Nyra Steward. The stewards are jointly responsible for officializing races on the Saratoga Race Course.
