A commemoration of the attack organized by the State is planned for October 16 after the holiday period of Sukkot has ended.

More than 1200 Israelis, most citizens, were killed in the attack. It was the deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.
The subsequent two-year war has killed more than 66,000 people in Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health, with many of those who are still living alive, displaced and hungry-with little hope of the war that ends, even resuming peace efforts.
