If you are stuck, it’s time to stop pushing. This is what to do instead

I recently led a special workshop in collaboration with freelancers called Union Reset: reconnect with your creative self.

It was not about doing any more. It was not about productivity hacks. It was about honesty. Once the room felt safe enough to be real, something powerful happened: we mentioned the species fixed That doesn’t matter.

Not the “I have to plan better” – but the kind of that makes you ask:

  • Why can’t I go further?
  • What am I even doing?
  • Is it – or is the world just too much?

The reset moment

So we moved. We danced. We breathed. Not to perform – but to remember: under all the sound there is still a wrist.

  • A voice.
  • A reason why you started.

Reset is not about repairing. It’s about it Tidy up space– so you can feel again. So you can listen again.

When creating is survival

Anne, one of the instructors in my Professional Development Program of My ASTC -End -of -Education Method, started the course with her best foot ahead. She was passionate, excited and ready to contribute her full creative self.

But then life went into. The bills accumulated. The days became shorter. The responsibilities became heavier. And her creativity slowly faded in the background. She no longer created – she survived. When she came to me, she didn’t ask for tools or choreography. She had closed. Her energy was exhausted. But more than that – she was ashamed of her own reality.

“Why can’t I do this?” She asked.

I stopped her and made one thing very clear: “That is possible. And this is not your reality.”

Then I shared two truths that I believe should hear every creative:

  1. You don’t fail. You are only one step closer to progress. You just have to learn how to give yourself permission to take that step.
  2. Nobody will tell you when it’s time to calibrate again. That is your job. And it’s hard.

As artists we have to be more intentional surround ourselves with a community That not only feeds our creativity – but only holds us responsible. (Who had anne.)

So here is the good news: Help was on the way.

We paused. Not to repair – but to feel. We started to map out how we can be present again – and how we could make contact again with her creativity.

Then the shift began. Not because she pushed harder – but because she gave herself permission to make room for creativity and the right support to manage it. Anne has not set up any plaster. By pausing, she moved forward.

Why we have to pause

As creatives, our creativity is one of the most valuable things in our lives. We have to feed it – by growing, listening and challenging ourselves. In a world that runs so fast, it is easy to lose track – and therefore our creative power. What usually happens is the tendency to view or follow someone else’s strategy.

But here is the thing: We can’t follow someone else’s path. There is no blueprint for our voice. We are the ones who build the card while we go. Our role in the world is to be the engine that pops up what never existed before. We cannot always produce tangible products – but we are those who offer the hope, imagination and vision in the core.

Sometimes we bring people out of darkness without even knowing it. Sometimes we speak with the child who feels different and becomes their invisible best friend. Sometimes we save lives.

We make room for the stories that have not been told. But we are not only storytellers –We are proponents of change and starters of the legacies.

And to do that, we need space. Silence. Breath.

We need clarity.

There is a way forward. There is support. So ask yourself: What would happen if I gave myself permission to start again?
