Yes, the low season. A great time to speculate about completely unrealistic and unreachable fantasies. We, Vikings fans, tell ourselves every low season that could be the year this year, knowing deep inside that we have no contact with reality, but that it is fine because it helps us to sleep at night and by getting what feels like an eternal break in action, especially the months of May to August.
I thought the other day, and not the Quarterback where the Vikings were reached en masse in the NFL design of 2011; If I could steal one player from each of the NFC North rivals of the Vikings and she could place them on the current iteration of the Minnesotan football club without worrying about the money involved, who would they be and why?
Detroit Lions: RB Jahmyr Gibbs

Jahmyr Gibbs is absolutely dynamite and is perfectly supplemented with both the attacking schedule of the lions and his colleague -hard run buddy, David Montgomery. He has already given the entire competition headache in his short, two -year career, and if the Vikings could magically put him in the roster, he would immediately become RB1, both Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason, and probably to put Ty Chandler out of a job.
I considered S Brian Branch and Edge Aidan Hutchinson, since Branch could be an electric pawn for the masterful defense of Brian Flores, and Aidan Hutchinson could be added to an already stacked edge space. I personally believe that you can never have enough Edge Rushers in the modern NFL, and I am sure that Brian Flores, of all people, probably agrees with me there.
Green Bay Packers: S Xavier McKinney

I loved Xavier McKinney in the NFL design of 2020, while the Vikings passed him twice (once for Justin Jefferson, the second time for the deceased Jeff Gladney) and he fell on the second round of the New York Giants. I have always loved his game, even back to his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide during his collegial career and was sick to hear from his signing at the Green Bay Packers before the NFL season 2024.
A few other options that I had considered here were the newly signed CB Nate Hobbs of the Packers, since the Vikings were interested in him, at least went south with Byron Murphy Jr. For whatever reason, I have always loved Christian Watson, even if I shouldn’t do that. He would take a recipient of a large body that was missing the Vikings, but he is just not good. If I did this a few weeks ago, the real choice would probably have been CB Jaire Alexander.
Chicago Bears: CB Jaylon Johnson

Although my selfish desires and the voices in my head almost Won and let me take former Virginia Tech Hokie MLB Tremaine Edmunds, I went the way of Logica and Koos CB Jaylon Johnson, albeit and unfortunately, one of the best corners in the industry. Johnson finished the top 30 in the NFL among all cornerbacks in Pff General Number (76.2), Run Defense Grade (79.9) and coverage quality (74.2) in 2024.
Together with Edmunds I also considered some WRs; I love all DJ Moore, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III, but there is such a thing as too many chefs in the kitchen at receiver, and the Vikings are almost on capacity of top percentile pass-catchers.
I would also lie if there was no small part of me that QB Caleb Williams wanted to say to make people angry. In my defense, That’s what he wants!
