If I keep performing, I’ll get a chance: Shams Mulani | CricTracker

Sham Mulani believes that regular consistent performances for his state side could result in a possible India call-up. His comments come after his all-round performance against Jammu & Kashmir earned Mumbai a nail-biting 35-run win in the opening round of the 2025/26 Ranji Trophy.

Mulani’s 91 and 2/74 in the first innings, followed by 41 and 7/46 helped Mumbai claim a memorable victory against the Paras Dogra-led team at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar on Saturday, October 18.

The 28-year-old made his intentions clear by giving his best for Mumbai. He also admitted that selection for the higher rungs of cricket was something he had no control over.

“My mentality is very clear. I just want to perform for Mumbai. The selection is not in my hands. My job is to perform. Performance never hurts. If I keep putting in such Player of the Match performances, I know things will go well and I will get a chance,” Mulani told The Hindu.

Mulani also revealed how he felt about his bowling in the game. He said he was trying to use the corners of the bowling crease.

“Throughout the match I thought the ball came out of my hand nicely. If there was even a little bit of help I felt I could be effective. I tried to use the crease well,” he added after the match.

Five of Mulani’s nine wickets in the match were bowled. The hosts were dismissed for 207 in their hunt for 243. Mulani’s 7/46 in 20.4 overs are his best figures in the first division.

Mumbai’s next match is scheduled against Chhattisgarh at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy at BKC in Mumbai. The second round of the main domestic competition starts on Saturday, October 25.
