Ray Meagher says he would speak to producers if Kate Ritchie wanted to revisit Summer Bay.
Continue this morning Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, the team was joined by Home and away icon Ray Meagher.
He teased the soap’s season finale this week with the Nova 96.9 team.
Wippa: This looks really scary. Ray, I mean, there’s a bloody train crash in Summer Bay in the finale!
Ray: Look, I’ve heard a lot of people describe it Home and away like a train wreck…but I can honestly say that for a two and a half hour production per week this is absolutely amazing, it’s so well done! There are a lot of key people involved in this and on the train that crashes. Will they all leave then? Will some of them get out? Will any of them come back? Who knows!
Ritchie: Are you on the train?
Ray: Unfortunately I couldn’t make that trip… as much as I love music festivals and mosh pits wherever they go.
He was also asked about the idea of Kate Ritchie returning to the Bay.
Fitzy: Ray, do you sit down with the producers every year and talk about your storyline? Can you have any input?
Ray: I sit down with the producers every year, and usually the conversation is very short. It goes something like this: I tell them, ‘It’s your shout’ and then we all go away for Christmas. But no…I’ve never tried to influence Alf’s storyline in 38 years. I definitely massage the words. Cannot massage the intention.
Wippa: Can I say something? And we’ve talked about it a few times on the show recently, and I think there’s a little dream on behalf of Australia… and you talk about the return of Brax and the River Boys, but imagine Kate Richie returning to the Bay in 2026!
Kate: Why are you doing this?
Wippa: Because you never clearly said no!
Fitzy: There’s an opportunity Ray, and you need to talk to producers there. You have to go faster!
Ray: I said before, I’ve never been to the producers, you know, a storyline for me, but I would make an exception, you know, in Kate’s case, and go talk to them.
