The Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram will organize a few races of the ICC World Cup World Cup 2025 from 30 to 2 November, held in India and Sri Lanka.
The allocation comes after the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has lost the hosting rights to four games after the Sampede of 4 June during the IPL title celebrations of RCB, who claimed 11 lives and more than 50 people were injured. Due to continuous safety problems, competitions from the Chinnaswamy have also shifted to the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground for the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2025, which are currently being played behind closed doors.
It remains unclear how many games the ICC will assign to the Greenfield Stadium, the only active international cricket location in the region since the Nehru Stadium from Kochi has switched exclusively to football. The land last organized an ODI in January 2023 when India faced Sri Lanka.
This marks the first world cup for ladies in India since 2013, when India women finished last in group A with one win of three games. Australia are the defending champion, after having defeated England with 71 runs in the final of 2022, where Alyssa Healy claimed both player of the game and player of the Honors series
