Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes that Indian Pace Spearhead Bcrit Bumrah should play the second test of the current five-match series Series against England. The hosts achieved a victory of five wicket in the opening material in Headingley, Leeds, successfully a 371-run target in the latest innings.
Bumrah will probably occur in just three games of the series due to workload management. Ashwin was of the opinion that the availability of the ACE Speedster for the second test becomes crucial, with India lagging 0-1 in the rubber.
Sugguing that the team management guided by Gautam Gambhir should make one change in the line-up by bringing in the left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin said on his YouTube video (from 17:51):
“Given that we are 1-0, I would ask Bumrah to play the second test and try to even get even in the series, and then he can take the break. Because there is a significant break between the 3rd and 4th test, he can then rest and play the 2nd test. I will just bring Kuldeep and make no other changes.”
Bumrah was the choice of bowlers in the first innings of England. He was the only warrior for the visitors. The 31-year-old took his 14th five-wicket trait in the format. He remained Wicketless in the Run -purification, which significantly defend India’s opportunities to defend the target.
Ashwin praised Bumrah’s performance (from 22:43):
“There have been a lot of Batting-Groten from India who are elevated to a divine status in our country. We have not yet lifted him to that level. But what a performer he is! What a competent bowler!”
It is still to be seen whether Bumrah will be equipped for the coming second test or not. The game is played in Edgbaston, Birmingham, from 2 to 6 July.
“Must play the bankable role” – Ravichandran Ashwin urges Mohammed Siraj to support Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah did not get enough support from the rest of the Indian bowlers in the opening match. Ravichandran Ashwin believes that Mohammed Siraj has to get up and to take some pressure from Bumrah.
He suggested that even if Siraj does not pick up wickets, he must ensure that the English batters are unable to score runs freely. Ashwin noticed in the same video (from 19:01):
“My only question is for Siraj … Can you simply dry up the runtrroom? You don’t have to pick up wickets, but you can’t give 4 or 5 runs away in any over? The thing is, if runs are leaked, then you have to return Bumrah to the attack. How many dams will Bumrah be able to make the stream of.
“But if Siraj continues to continue his style and Prasidh also leaks, then you need someone to come in and play the role. You can’t go to Jadeja for this role. That’s why I think it’s a crucial factor,” he added (from 22:24).
Siraj performed in Headingley. He claimed two wickets in the first innings of England and failed to pick up a single scalp in the subsequent essay.
