I admit – I have set the bar quite high when it comes to golf shoes. They should not only look great (priority no. 1!), They must also be comfortable and double as a daily wear. Maybe it makes me an ultra wave, but I wear my golf shoes everywhere: dog walks, school runs, weekend change – everything! I have never been a changed-in-the-parking-lot kind of girl. I arrive with my golf shoes and leave with it, because my golf shoes and life shoes are one and the same.
What I like about modern golf shoes is the fact that powerful outdoor soles make this possible. (Do not worry-I do not promise that I do not click on the city on SoftSpikes in the city.) Sneakers cannot double like golf shoes, but my favorite golf shoes can certainly double like sneakers, and I really lean on that front. Multifunctional clothing is currently very furious in the golf world and shoes are no exception.
Duca del Cosma wear
Last year I tried my first pair of Duca del Cosmas-a Italian golf shoe brand founded in 2004. The shoes were super fashionable in a way of look-at-me, with Blitse, colorful accenting-right statement shoes, and I was really impressed by comfort and sustainability. So, with a few weeks of summer journey looming, I decided to try a few more Ducas, but this time I wanted to stay with something neutral.
In an attempt to pack at least for a transatlantic family travel schedule, I decided to pack only one pair of real shoes-a long order! I wanted something that could go with jeans and shorts, that polished enough for dining of Alfresco and yet were comfortable enough to process miles. I ended up on the licata – a white waterproof shoe with beige accents that went with absolutely every item of clothing that I brought.
Duke of Cosma Licata
Waterproof and comfortable with exceptional grip. These lightweight golf sneakers have you ready for 18 holes and beyond.
Duke of Cosma’s performance
What I like best about the licata is the out-of-the-box comfort. Thanks to my previous Duca experience, I was willing to run the risk of wearing the licata’s for the first time on the departure day, which could have leaded to a blister-filled disaster and a week of flip-flop-bearing misery while I recovered. Instead, I was pleased to find the fit to be spacious in the Teenbox and cozy, but not too cozy, around the foot. The shoes have easily traversed any kind of terrain – as they should, they are made for golf! – And I didn’t even test them on the track until I returned from the trip. No surprise, they also excelled on grass.
Earning a detail high marks: the contrast laces! I cannot be the only person who loves all the day of completely white shoes before the fresh laces are marred with dirt. I don’t have the patience to find a shoe, wash the shoelaces and visit it again. With the licata I noticed that even if the shoe has built up a few easily cleaned stains on a certain day, they were easily removed from the shoe, but you could certainly not be removed.
A final observation: the comfort of these shoes remained the same with or without socks. That makes sense! As an older millennial that does not yet have to put on, I am happy to be able to report that this shoe can handle a flash of only with aplomb.
