Former Australian cricket player Ricky Ponting has mentioned the list of English cricketers that have the key to their team for the upcoming Red-Ball Tour through Australia. The series with five games is planned to start later this year in November. Ponting also admitted that he is an admirer of Bazball Although it is a proud Australian. Ponting also spoke about individual players and how they are among the Bazball regime.
“When it started for the first time, it looked like Joe [Root] I was dragged a bit. He changed his game. He went back to play normally. Ollie Pope is naturally aggressive and scores quickly. Stokes may have the lowest battle speed since it started, while Duckett and Crawley are at the forefront. They probably have the key in Australia, “explained Ponting, as quoted by The Times.
The World Cup-winning captain also sheds light on the areas that India could not benefit from the recent Anderson-Detulkar trophy.
“If they can really hit the top and set up things, it will give them a good chance in the series. It is the way in which England naturally plays, and it just turns everything out for them, putting immediate pressure on the bowlers. You have to adjust very quickly, and that is where India has abandoned,” he added.
“I am as aussie as everyone and I love to look at the way they play. The Aussies embraced it and learned the last time they were here. They will now have a understanding of what a slightly refined version of what England started a few years ago,” Ponting noted.
The last time England won the Ashes Under was during the 2010/11 season. Since the 1-3 triumph at the time, the three lions have not succeeded in winning a Red-Ball series in Australia. The second place of the 2023-25 cycle of the world test championship will be aimed at keeping record intact in the coming series.
