It was all shrink-wrapped in its own sections, in small bamboo and/or cardboard boats, in a reusable acacia wood tray. All I had to do was unwrap the sections and arrange the crackers. There are three different plate sizes (Classic serves 2-3, Medium serves 4-5, and Large serves 9-10, which I found accurate as long as the plate is used as an appetizer and not a meal), as well as holiday themes and customizable cheese numbers and letters. There is also the option for that add-ons like baked brie ($129) or fresh honeycomb ($19). It’s not a bargain, but if you want to take some of the stress out of planning Thanksgiving meals, this is definitely a hit. —Cat Merck
More Thanksgiving meal delivery sides and boxes
We haven’t tried the Thanksgiving items below yet, but these are some meal kit options I’ve tried and can recommend.
Thanks to Green Chef
Organic Thanksgiving: Green Chef (subscribers only)
For pre-orders between October 31 and November 11, Green Chef subscribers can sign up to have organic side dishes and pastured turkey delivered as an a la carte meal kit. This includes a 10- to 12-pound pasture-raised turkey for $70, or an assortment of sides: cranberry brioche stuffing, orange-cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, maple squash, and broccoli gratin.
Thanksgiving à la carte: Thanksgiving with a blue apron (starts November 17, no subscription required)
Blue Apron, one of the OG meal kits in this country, has undergone a wholesale transformation this year. One of the biggest changes was that subscriptions are no longer necessary and ordering a la carte meals is possible. In fact, it is now my favorite non-subscription meal kit. What this means is that this Thanksgiving you can order individual Thanksgiving dishes to prepare fresh at home.
WIRED plans to try these meals in advance if available, but the delivery dishes for individual meal kits include roasted turkey breast with gravy and fresh cranberry sauce, rosemary herb stuffing, brown butter mashed potatoes with white cheddar, bread crumb mac and cheese, and apple crumble. Ordering goes live on November 17th and runs until December 29th.
A Great Thanksgiving Smorgasbord: Marley Spoon (subscription required)
You’ll have to sign up for a meal kit subscription (probably at a deep discount), but the Martha Stewart-approved Marley Spoon meal kit offers perhaps more Thanksgiving items than any meal kit I’ve seen, selectable from the menu as meal kit items. This includes an ungodly array of pies and pies, foods from ham to duck to turkey to roast beef, an entire Thanksgiving brunch, you name it. Here is the November 17 in advance menuwith 30 Thanksgiving options. Marley Spoon is my favorite meal kit when it comes to cooking and recipes: I haven’t tried these individual dishes, but if you’re looking for a Thanksgiving meal kit to take home, November might be a good time to subscribe.
Thanks to HelloFresh
Another large Thanksgiving Box, from HelloFresh (subscribers only, starts November 16)
You must be a subscriber (at least for the entire week!), but HelloFresh meal plan offers a Thanksgiving feast that will serve eight to 10 people for $180, available through the HelloFresh Market. This includes a whole roast turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, brioche filling with cranberries, apple chips, ginger stewed carrots with pecans. In addition to other side dishes, these dishes are also available à la carte.
Thanks to Factor
Prepared meal Thanksgiving: Factor (subscribers only)
Convenience food company Factor offers a fully prepared, ready-to-eat Thanksgiving meal option for two, for couples who don’t want to prepare a multi-course meal just for themselves. It will be available starting November 22 for an additional charge of $37 for existing Factor subscribers. The feast for two includes sliced sous vide turkey breast, mashed potatoes, green beans with mushrooms, butternut smoked gouda macaroni and cheese, and a slice of pumpkin spice cheesecake.
