Apple TV+ has announced a new series of Breaking Bath Schepper Vince Gilligan, but we hardly know anything about it. We heard about the new series for the first time via a social media post of a smiley in a Petrischot, we then got our (very vague) first look at what was revealed to be called to be called Multiple After a fake count was placed online. Although we know that the show will play Rhea Seehorn, which I can now assume will play a woman called Carol (more about it later), what Multiple Is actually open to interpretation.
Here is an overview of what we see in the seconds long Multiple Teaser. It opens with a wide shot of what seems to be a prison with a guard who is in the frame and then zooms in for a close-by look on the guard who licks donuts and then places them in a box. Returning to the original teaser image that was shared in advance, with the slogan ‘Happiness is contagious’ accompanied by a petri dish with a smiley face, we see a sign that ‘Help yourself’ reads with the same smiley face.
And that is literally all we know … so far. Apple TV+ has released a telephone number without explanation, so that Carol was asked to call it under “not a pressure”. It is not even a message that is meant for me, but I could not help to call it to find out more. What I found surprising was even more shocking and stunning than what I had already seen.
I still don’t understand where the new show from Apple TV+from Breaking Bad is about after the ominous phone number ends up
I took the burden, so you don’t have to. If you would call the telephone number from the above advertisement, here is exactly what you would hear:
It starts: “Hello Carol. We are so happy that you called. We can’t wait for you to come to us. Choose 0 and we will contact you via SMS.” It is clear that I am not Carol, but I did choose “0” to get the next part of the message.
‘Please know that your life is yours, Carol. You have the desk! ‘ (Again, my name is not Carol.) “Having said that, answer yes to sign up for updates from AppletV+ and agree to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. FREQ varies, permission no condition for purchase, MSG & Data Rates Applicable applies. STOP STOP to Cancel, help for help.”
Something more boring, but even for a fictional marketing stunt, Apple must somehow get its boilerplate T & Cs for SMS marketing. I answered “yes” and got this answer:
“You have to have so many questions for us! Understand, we just want to make you happy. We will contact you quickly. Stop text to stop, help for help.”
So Logic tells me that at a certain moment I will hear in the future of the mysterious Pluribus voice. What it will say, I don’t know. When it comes, I can’t say. Who is Carol? Maybe I will never know. Maybe she never called the song back. Maybe I am Carol and my parents read my birth certificate wrong.
Currently, the only indication of what the hell is going on is the title itself. ‘Pluribus’ is a Latin word that means ‘much’ or ‘more’. It is used the most famous in the expression ‘e pluribus unum’, which translates into ‘from many, one’. If we apply this to what we have seen, Carol is ours … but one of what, we have no idea.
I bet that all the money that Apple TV+ and Gilligan will make this marketing campaign as much as possible. It is clear that I will get a part that I will be sent directly to me, and I am not sure if I have to laugh or cry in anticipation.
Maybe you like it too
