Hyu Iwata doesn’t do respect tours. The undefeated Japanese striker plans to dismantle Suablack Tor Pran49 and send a message to the entire flyweight kickboxing division.

23-year-old karate specialist meets battle-tested Thai veteran in flyweight kickboxing action A Fighting Night 41 on Friday, March 13 in Bangkok, the Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand. The event will air live in US primetime on Amazon Prime Video, showcasing Hyu’s continued rise to championship gold against an opponent who earned his stripes the hard way.

Hyu has an impeccable professional record of 12-0 coming into this matchup. The Osaka native represents Team Mehdi Zatout and TEAM3K with a fighting style that combines traditional karate with devastating modern strikes. Since his promotional debut last September, he is 4-0 in ONE Championship, defeating three opponents along the way.

Suablack brings serious credentials to this fight. The 29-year-old Thai striker has victories over well-known names such as Seksan Or Kwanmuang and Sangarthit Looksaikongdin. His striking record of 62-22 shows that he has faced high-level competition throughout his career, spending most of his ONE Championship stint at bantamweight before moving down to flyweight.

Hyu isn’t concerned with internet fame or legendary thighs. He respects what Suablack has achieved. But respect doesn’t change the outcome he sees coming.

“I feel like he is a proven, high-level guy who is doing well in ONE,” he said. “Just look at his thighs – he’s obviously built differently, not one to go down easily. I think it’s going to be a very exciting fight. Like a karate athlete, I’m going to hurt him and break him down.”

Hyu Iwata has one shot at the world title and super fights with the biggest names

Hyu Iwata looks beyond Suablack Tor Pran49. The immaculate Japanese finisher has his sights set on ONE Championship’s biggest stars and the flyweight kickboxing throne.

His recent performances have built momentum toward elite status. Every finish added credibility. Each victory brought him closer to the championship picture. An impressive win over the veteran Thai striker would solidify that position and potentially earn him a spot on one of the organization’s big cards this year.

The 23-year-old believes Suablack is the perfect test. The Thai veteran has faced top-level competition throughout his career. A decisive victory would prove that Hyu is among the division’s top contenders. He wants to win that statement in Bangkok.

“Suablack is a fighter who has already faced top athletes, so I want to beat him in a convincing way,” he said. “And use that to earn a spot at an event in Japan, or even at the American event.”

The ambitions extend far beyond a single battle. Hyu has extensively studied ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9. He has analyzed every move of former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon. Both megastars are firmly in his sights as legacy-defining prospects.

His unique skills create problems that no superstar has encountered before. The karate foundation combined with modern precision gives him tools that make matchups interesting. Hyu sees paths to victory against both men. He believes his style presents challenges that they have not yet resolved.

“As a Japanese fighter, I really believe that I am the one who can fight Rodtang and Superlek and win in a beautiful, decisive way,” he said. “That’s what I’m aiming for: to win the title this year, and I think it would be interesting to fight in Muay Thai [with the four-ounce gloves] also.”
