Atlanta – Hundreds of people showed up on Saturday to mourn the loss of a man who had 12 biological children and eight stepchildren.

D’Anthony Reaves, who previously told family members to Fox 5, claimed all 20 children like his, was shot outside the Greyhound bus station on Forsyth Street on July 19.

De Lijn to be employed in North Avenue Missionary Baptist Church extended the doors and into the parking lot, while mourning people came to honor the deceased father.

Ten children of Reaves were able to attend the service.

His family said the turnout showed how loved and familiar their father and brother were in communities in Atlanta.

“Everyone saw coming out like a big community was really fun, and we really appreciate all the extra support because we need it,” said Sha’miracle Brown, one of Reaves’ daughters.

Saturday’s service was filled with music – something that fits Reaves, whose brother described him as a ‘dance machine’.

“I think dancing and singing was his safe space,” said D’Ana Reaves, one of Reaves’ daughters. “Oh and his smile, he would just continue.”

“My father was like a crazy dancer, but I will always remember the position of music. Because some of us make music, we are all inclined musically, some of us play instruments. So my father passed that musical gene to us all,” Brown said. “He loved his children. You could ask someone, every person, and they would say that we were his pride and joy. I don’t think there is a room that we could walk in that he could not call us or our performance or our praise.”

The brother of Reaves, Deoinetea HightTower, said that the family is planning to start a foundation in the name Reaves to ensure that all his children are cared for – and to help fathers take to the streets and change their lives.

“We repair to open the D’Anthony Reaves Foundation so that we can serve his children so that they will be taken care of,” HightTower said. “We also have the power for the fathers who are represented for him, where we help the fathers get off the street and get their lives together again.”

The family also wants to see change in the capitol of the state.

“Grayhound? I am trying to stop their policy to let weapons about state lines be worn … And we want Governor Kemp to come back with the Wapenwet, it closes. We don’t need our young brothers with weapons,” HightTower said.
