San Francisco (KGO) – Educators and supporters from the entire Bay Area and beyond gathered on Saturday in San Francisco against the financing reductions of the Trump administration to public education.
“I am just shocked about the cutbacks in education,” said Colleen Forbes, a kindergarten teacher at the San Mateo-Foster City School District. “We have to train people so that we have a burger who can stand up for what they believe in and change things for the better.”
Hundreds of rally visitors closed through the streets of the center of San Francisco while the marching band played and singing went out.
“It feels like we are besieged,” said Jodi Fee, a special education teacher at the Oakley Union Elementary School District. “These students deserve just as much as everyone else. And the cuts they make make these students in danger of learning how to learn.”

State inspector Tony Thurmond joined ABC7 News to discuss how to reduce the US Department of Education will influence the students of Bay Area.
“There is a lot of support for education, and there are many people who are very concerned about cutting counselors, mental health and special education,” said Colleen Fahey, a school psychologist at the Solano County Office of Education.
“There are many people who will be hit by this,” continued Fahey, whose daughter was also collecting.
“I am here to support my mother, who is a psychologist of a special education, and all attacks at the schools at the moment,” said Jordyn Fahey. “I try to support the community and how wrong it is to remove financing from our very important public school education.”
“It’s not just a wonderful turnout, it’s a wonderful turnout of all different ages and races,” said Andy Reed, a pre -school teacher and older with children in public schools in San Francisco. “Everyone who appreciates public education is here to protect that right.”
