Kneecap has invested the judicial steps about the politician’s statements after a ban on the group that enters Canada

Irish Rap Trio Kneecap is planning legal steps against a Canadian member of parliament after Ottawa forbade them from the country for alleged anti-Israeli views, the musicians announced.

It is the newest example of limitations imposed by the Western governments to musicians about pro-Palestinian views. In the past year, a number of artists are access to different countries or confronted with cancellations linked to their political views.

“Our government will not tolerate and hate the advocation of political violence, terrorism or anti -Semitism,” “ The Canadian MP Vince Gasparro said in a video that was placed on X on Friday, and confirmed that the group was forbidden to come in.

Kneecap, who had planned four shows for October in Toronto and Vancouver, rejected the allegations and said that the lawyers of the band would take legal steps via the X -Post.

In a statement about Instagram, the band mentioned the accusations of Gasparro “Completely not true and deeply malignant,” insist that no member of the band had “Is once convicted of a crime in any country ever.”

“If we beat you in court, what we will do,” Kneecap wrote, “We will donate every cent to help some of the thousands of children’s amputes in Gaza.”

Kneecap has previously stated that they do not support Hamas or Hezbollah. One of the members of the group, Liam Og O Hannaidh, is currently confronted with an indictment in the UK for alleged representation of a Hezbollah flag during a meeting in 2024. He denies the accusation and the case was postponed until 26 September.

This is not the first time that artists are confronted with institutional pressure on their pro-Palestinian statements. In April the American singer Kehlani had canceled a show at Cornell University because of her Pro-Palestinian views. In May, the Irish Post-Punk Group Murder Capital fell from locations in Germany after showing a Palestinian flag on stage. In July the US withdrawn the Visa from members of the English Punk Rap-Duo Bob Vylan after Pro-Gaza comments at Glastonbury Music Festival in the UK.
