Harness Racing Australia chairman Graeme Campbell OAM said today that he reluctantly had accepted the resignation of the long-term CEO Andrew Kelly.
Kelly has spent 22 years in various senior roles in harness races, including the last 17 years as HRA CEO.
“The leadership of Andrew through many challenges has been excellent,” said Campbell. “His dedication and professionalism have navigated through many difficult times through the industry, including horse flinition and Covid.
“The industry has positioned its foresight, in particular in dealing with social licensing issues such as well -being, traceability, use of foal crops and genetic diversity, along with modernizing industry with microchip technology.”
Campbell said that Kelly also supervised the investment in new industrial events such as the Eureka tab and the important HRA contribution to help with the recent revival and Prizemoney -increase in Queensland Inter Dominion.
Kelly has also been the driving force behind the internationalization of the industry, including the trips to Sweden for the iconic Elith lump that Race is running, most recently by Just Bely and the Locomotive, who has considerably stimulated the recognition of Australian Harness Racing around the world.
Kelly said he had enjoyed his time in the role.
“In particular, I want to thank members of the HRA director for their conviction and relentless support, while I can also recognize the commitment and efforts of the HRA team that I was lucky to work together at that time. The organization is in great hands,” he said.
“This sport, this industry, is built around large, passionate people and it is a privilege to devote so much of my working life.”
Campbell said that he and the HRA director were appreciated that Kelly had agreed to stay on and to help you name a successor.
“We will start the search almost immediately and having Andrew -part of it will help with a smooth transition,” he said.
