Da Dum. Da Dum. There is something in the water this week – or, rather, on your television screen.
Discovery Shark Week 2025 Started yesterday (Sunday, July 20) and runs although Saturday 26 July. Let’s look at the history of this scale -filled event, the permanent inheritance and what is new this year. Then we will do a deep dive to coordinate.
A short history of Shark Week
The “Fin -Tastic” fanchise of the Discovery Channel Started for the first time On July 17, 1988, when the program was tested in fear, new motorized cages designed to withstand shark attacks.
The purpose of this program, and the nine others who premiered that week, was to inform the public about these incorrectly understood marine animals. The event was so successful that it almost doubled the prime-time average of the network, and so a tradition was born. This year is 37 years Shark Week.
How does Shark Week the Hype?
In a world of endless streaming options, it is impressive that the event of a traditional cable network can endure and still attract fans. Part of the allure is the subject itself. People are fascinated and frankly terrified of the mysterious shark. This primary awe always remains a satisfactory itching to scratch.
The lack of agreement with watching television creates a void that Shark Week is happy to fill. The fins and seawater create anticipation, a feeling of urgency and satisfaction that is difficult to get somewhere else. It also creates community as those with whom you look at it, undergo a shared experience. Moreover, the long history is nostalgic for many.
Shark Week has evolved over the years by embracing streaming, social media and celebrity culture.
Beyond the cable you can overtake HBO Max and Discovery+. Big moments are shared on platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram and go viral quickly. Celebrities such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Momoa and Shaquille O’Neal have organized the event. A capacity to adjust has cemented this week’s inheritance.
What’s new with Shark Week this year?
This year there was a lot of hype around Dancing with the Sharks, organized by former Dancing with the Stars Mc Tom Bergeron. This kicked the week off and was broadcast yesterday at 8 p.m. local time.
If you have missed the diving hands with bait to dance with their fins of friends, don’t worry: you can view it on HBO Max.
Another program to look forward to this year is how you can survive a shark attack that is organized by a real shark attack Surviving Paul de Gelder. In 2009 he was attacked by a bull shark in the port of Sydney and as a result he lost his right arm and bone, but still managed to survive. His tips and tricks can simply help to save one or two life. This program will be broadcast on Tuesday 22 July at 9 p.m.
