The last major tournament of the season is underway, because the top players of the sport come together in Noord -Ireland to perform it for the oldest prize in Golf.
The coveted Claret Jug is for the taking at Royal Portush, with the game this morning and runs until Sunday 20 July.
Masters champion Rory Mcilroy was barely eliminated by Chris Gotterup on the Scottish Open last week, and the Noord -Ier is looking for a second open title on home soil this time.
He previously won the tournament in the Royal Liverpool in 2014.
The reigning champion is Xander Schauffele, who won two shots to beat Justin Rose and Billy Horschel in the Royal Throne.
