How to downgrade iOS 26 to iOS 18.7 / 18.6.2

Here you can read how you can downgrade iOS 26 to iOS 18.6.2 or iOS 18.7 on your compatible iPhone or iPad device.

When Apple announces a large new iPhone or iPad software update, it can be tempting to jump on board and install it early. But that can often lead to problems with the software, sometimes full of bugs and other problems. If you update the new iOS 26 or iPados 26 releases and discover that you have to downgrade again, this is what you have to do.

All these steps require that you have a Windows PC or a Mac to let the ball roll, and you must also have the version of iOS and iPados that you want to download.

Step 1: Make sure you have upgraded and executed the latest version of iTunes on your PC or Mac. If you carry out MacOS Catalina or later, you don’t have to worry about iTunes, because this is all handled by the Finder app that is built directly in the operating system.

Step 2: You must be in possession of the correct IPSW iOS/iPados 18.6.2 file that has been compiled by Apple and that is intended for your device. We will downgrade your device with this file and can take a file for your relevant device from here.

Step 3: Now you must ensure that the Find My function is switched off on your iPhone or iPad. To do that, start settings> iCloud> look for my and switch the switch to the out position. Enter the Apple ID and correct the password to confirm your decision.

Step 4: Connect your device to your PC or Mac. If iTunes is not automatically loaded, you must do it manually and ensure that it runs. If you use MacOS Catalina or later, start a Finder window.

Then place your device in the DFU mode using the fast guides below (if you do not yet know how to do this):

iPhone XR / XS / XS Max / 11/11 Pro Max / 12/12 Mini / 12 Pro / 12 Pro Max / 13/13 Mini / 13 Pro / 13 Pro Max / 14/14 Plus / 14 Pro Max / 15/15 Pro / 15 Pro Max / 16/16 Plus / 16 Pro Max, or 2010 Pro -owner of this guide.

Step 5: Get out of the way with the DFU mode, go to iTunes or Finder and hold the option key on a Mac or the Shift key pressed on a PC and click on the iPhone/iPad Restore Restore option.

Step 6: Choose the IPSW file (iOS/iPados) that you have previously downloaded in the process. Practice some patience and let iTunes/Finder go through the standard process and leave an iPhone or iPad that is relegated from iOS/iPados 26 to the version in the IPSW file that you have chosen.
