How Titleist shows golfers how to build the best bag | Fully equipped

When you fit Titleist, it is just as well an educational experience when it comes to finding the best golf clubs for your game.

That is through design.

In the episode of this week of Golf’s fully equipped, co-gastheer of Johnny Wunder and Jake Morrow, Lucas Bro, a fitter at the Titleist Performance Institute, how to inform his customers how they can better play golf by explaining how their clubs can work for them.

“I really try to push players to think about their game and understand all levers and what they can put on, and what is important and what is not important,” Bro said. “I try to learn every player I fit how to do my work. That is my approach.”

Wunder is now Fit by Bro twice and said that he is the first person he actually heard out loud explanation of how club fitting is just as psychological as physical. Wunder used the example that a player with a big judge actually fears the left Mrs., something that Bro explained earlier.

But he continued that TPI is trying to make use of the idea that all players want, is only better golf.

“Everyone wants everyone to play well. But in the end, like you, people teach how to actually do this, what is unique,” Wunder said. “I think what you tap into a bit, more than Golf IQ, such as, and it happens to be close to building your bag. And that is why it is so fascinating for me, because I have the feeling that the next five to ten years, analyzes will stimulate fitting, and analyzes will stimulate performance.”

Bro said that the entire philosophy came from his predecessor. He used another example where a player comes to him and says he wants to get his 7-iron further. But Bro probably wants him to get his 7-iron higher so that he can control it better.
