Is there a market for goalkeepers?
Anthony Di Marco of the Daily Faceoff joined TSN Radio in Montreal on Monday and was asked about the goalie market and if there is one this trading season.

Host: “And right before we let you go, this city is kind of getting into some action with some of the goaltending over the last few weeks. And (Jacob) Fowler goes back, and then we get the text Anthony, you know what it’s like. You gotta trade for a goaltender.”
We saw the goaltending market as it was earlier this year with the trade of (Tristan) Jarry and (Stuart) Skinner. Is there a market for goaltenders right now for anyone who can get in somewhere that I just don’t see in the National Hockey League.”
Anthony Di Marco “No, I don’t. And it was funny, I was talking to someone from the Philadelphia Flyers earlier today, and they have arguably the worst goaltender in the NHL in the last fifteen months in Samuel Ersson. But to your point, Sean, I just don’t think there are better options on the market that justify paying the return price.”
And look, I think there’s some interesting name, it would be Dennis Hildeby with the Toronto Maple Leafs, because we talked about the Leafs briefly before we finally started to right that ship a little bit. But suddenly they have three goaltenders. Anthony Stolarz, right, just back from injury, has not even received his new contract after four years, which starts next season. Joseph Woll is clearly, in theory I think, the goalkeeper of the future. And Dennis Hildeby has actually quietly had a very nice season.

So I mean, I think Toronto could use a guy as a trade currency because they don’t have a lot of assets. And then of course there’s the three-headed goaltending problem in Buffalo with UPL (Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen) and Colten Ellis. So I think Alex Lyon and Dennis Hildeby are the only guys I can think of as decent backup options for teams looking for them, and guys who could be expendable.
