How is Andrew Heaney for Dodgers since signing Minor League deal?

When the Los Angeles Dodgers signed veteran Andrew Heaney earlier this month for a Minor League deal, many eyebrows were lifted in the baseball world.

The 34-year-old Southpaw threw a 5.39-era in 26 performances with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season, but has so far looked sharp in his two trips in Triple-A.

The former Dodger threw eight three innings and generated 10 Whiffs on 46 offers in his first competition in the organization since 2022. His next outing contained one hit, one walk and one strikeout on 38 total throws. Certainly fewer punch outs than his first outing, but if the Dodgers still need an arm in the piece, a reunion with Heaney might be in the cards.

When the veteran last attract Dodger Blue, he had an ERA of 3.10 over 72.2 innings work. It was easy to do its best season so far and added 110 strikeouts to only 19 free walking.

Although Heaney has a limited postsease experience, he has made some memorable performances on the bump when he is called. He has allowed six earned runs in 14 total after -season innings and was phenomenal for the Texas Rangers during their 2023 run to the World Series.

Heaney threw 5.2 innings in the World Series 2023 with an era of only 1.59. Perhaps this was added to the Dodgers who expand a contract, just a few days after the Pittsburgh Pirates had made him available.

Above all, Heaney can be a source of depth for a pitching selection that it was missing all year round, and as a veteran with postseason experience it would not be too surprising to see his name on the Roster in October.

Another option for the Dodgers Bullpen currently in Triple-A is right-handed Roki Sasaki. The 23-year-old phenomenon has been out with a shoulder decision since May, but also wants to make up for the after season selection and hope to contribute to another title run.
