Spurs fans have discovered the reality of playing for PSG.
Just as Newcastle United fans discovered two seasons ago.
The same thing fans of all other English clubs experienced when they played PSG in the Champions League.
In fact, supporters of any other European club when they face PSG in the top-level competition.
According to UEFA rules, away fans must be entitled to at least five percent of the capacity during their competitions.
PSG’s home capacity for Champions League matches is somewhere between 47,000 and 48,000, meaning away fans should get around 2,350 to 2,400 tickets.
However, as Spurs fans are now discovering, Newcastle United fans were only given away 2,000 PSG tickets.
Many angry Spurs fans ahead of their PSG away match on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, so few tickets, leading Tottenham to issue this explanation.
Tracks official announcement:
‘Supporters will note that our ticket allocation for this match is lower than the five percent allocation that all visiting clubs are entitled to under UEFA competition rules. The Club has requested the full allocation and has consulted with both PSG and UEFA. We have been informed that the reduced ticket allocation is a safety and security directive from local authorities in Paris, which applies to all European matches played at the Parc des Princes.”
This is a pure stab between PSG and the local authorities in Paris.
This is the richest club in France, in the richest city in France, and claims they cannot safely accommodate more than 2,000 away fans. That is against UEFA competition rules
PSG president Nasser bin Ghanim Al-Khelafi is also a member of UEFA’s executive committee.
Deloitte’s rich list of football clubs from 2025 shows that PSG has the third highest turnover in football in the world, a turnover of €806 million (approximately £700 million).
PSG is also the reigning Champions League title holder.
Yet they have been violating UEFA rules for years and continue to do so.
If PSG/Paris are unable to safely accommodate more than 2,000 visiting fans, they will not be allowed to host Champions League matches in their stadium.
Sadly, we all know that the days of past Champions League adventures are long gone, such as when Newcastle United took around 13,000 fans to San Siro when they played Inter Milan, as well as so many other big followers who were able to go to major European away trips and watch their team play abroad. Visits to Barcelona, Antwerp and so on.
However, it is a total joke that a club like PSG can refuse to comply with even the measly five percent rule for away fans.
