Vanguard recently released the 2025 edition of their How America saves report. The report looks at the behavior of more than 5 million participants in Vanguard pension plans sponsored by the employer.
In the course of the years of reading this report, I started to think of the combination of “Plan sponsored by the employer with automatic registration and a target-date fund such as the standard investment option”, such as equal to index funds in terms of the dramatic improvement they provided to the typical investor, compared to what was previously dominated.
