Hosts Debate Blockbuster One-For-One Crosby Trade Pitch with Canadiens

The hosts of TSNs Exaggerated Utter a commercial interview this week by debating a hypothetical one-for-one trade: Montreal Canadiens Prospect Ivan Demidov for Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby. Not everyone was agreed in total, whereby every host made different points why the penguins of Canadiens should or should not do the deal.

Bryan Hayes asked the question in the air and asked if his co-hosts would move the 19-year-old Demidov for the 38-year-old Crosby. Jeff O’Neill did not hesitate and said ‘of course’, with the argument that two years of Crosby’s Elite game would be worthwhile for each team. However, Jamie McLennan was not convinced. While he praised Crosby as a ‘Mount Rushmore player’, McLennan wondered if the adding of Crosby would really make the Canadiens opportunities in his remaining window of top performance.

The debate quickly fell on social media, where fans pushed back overwhelmingly against the idea.

Fan response to the Crosby for Demidov -Handeling question

“You act to Crosby to play with Demidov. There is no way you make the trade in the current situation that Montreal is,” wrote a fan. Another noticed about: “Demidov, only 19 Lmaooo … future superstar.” A fan of Canadiens added: “Under no circumstance Demidov.”

Another fan added that these hosts who thought that the Canadiens would even consider this to be so good. They wrote: “They do not exchange core pieces or players that they have drawn up top 10, certainly not for two years of someone. They spoke about not sacrificing the long term for something in the short term since Gorton arrived there.”

Other insiders have suggested that the Canadiens would like to have Crosby, who called on Tuesday during an interview with Pierre Lebrun that he was a fan of Canadiens who grew up. If it is true, how much are the habs willing to sacrifice, assuming that Crosby would ever tell the penguins that he is ready to continue?

Should the Canadiens Demidov trade for Crosby immediately?

Canadiens want crosby, but not so bad

O’Neill even suggested that the penguins would ask for Lane Hutson. He clearly thinks that is very much from Crosby. But the consensus under the fan base was that although Crosby remains one of the biggest players in the NHL history, Montreal is not in a win-now position that justifies a cornerstone prospect like Demidov.

If they were ahead in their development for about two and the Canadiens certainly knew what Demidov was, it might be a different story.

While a fan summarized it: “They never go a big asset for SID, period.”
