In a grim reminder that even Tinseltown’s brightest stars can face the grimmest of realities, acting legend Mickey Rourke is reportedly fighting eviction from his luxurious Los Angeles residence over a staggering $90,000 in unpaid rent.

The 73-year-old Golden Globe winner – known for his performances in Iron Man 2, The Expendables, Sin City and The Wrestler – was served a three-day notice on December 18, 2025, demanding he pay off the significant debt or vacate the property.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, his landlord, Eric Goldie, claims Rourke failed to comply. Realtor.com reports.

The notice was reportedly posted on the door and sent by post because “no person of suitable age or discretion” could be found at the property.

The rent on the Spanish-style bungalow in L.A.’s affluent Beverly Grove neighborhood, initially rented to Rourke for $7,796 per month, was increased to $10,494.

Built in 1926 and extensively renovated since then, the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home spans just over 1,490 sq ft and sits on a generous 557 sq ft plot.

Rourke, a former boxer, even shared photos of a DIY gym he set up on the back porch, showing off a personal touch to his rented space.

This isn’t the first time The Wrestler star has faced such real estate issues.

In 2017, a New York landlord chased him for $44,977 in unpaid rent on a Tribeca loft. To make matters worse, Rourke was also accused of causing nearly $14,992 in damage, including the unauthorized installation of “discover light fixtures” in the ceiling, a broken lock, a damaged bathtub and holes in the walls.

He was later ordered to pay more than $48,725 to that landlord after failing to appear in court.

While the status of Rourke’s current finances is unknown, he has spoken openly about his past financial problems, admitting that he lost “everything” when his career faltered.

“I lost everything. My house, my wife, my credibility, my career,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 2008.

“I even lost my entourage, and then you know things are really bad.

“I just had all that childhood anger, which was really shame, not anger, and used it as armor and machismo to cover my wounds. Unfortunately, the way I acted really scared people, even though it was really just me who was scared. But I was like this person who had a short circuit and I didn’t know how to fix myself.”

The actor’s recent troubles extend beyond property, after he was asked to leave Britain’s Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year due to “unacceptable behavior,” which he later claimed was a ploy by producers to avoid paying his full fee.

News of Rourke’s deportation battle casts a long shadow, especially when combined with Tylor Chase’s tragic circumstances.

The 36-year-old actor, beloved for his role as Martin Qwerly in Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, is the subject of growing concern after recent videos showed him homeless.

On December 26, 2025, Chase was placed in a 72-hour psychiatric facility after being found in an untidy condition, only to be released back onto the streets three days later.

These two stories, unfolding simultaneously, offer a sobering glimpse into the precarious nature of life in Hollywood, where the glitz and glamor can quickly give way to profound financial and personal hardship.

It’s a stark reminder that behind the silver screen, the property ladder can be a slippery slope, even for the most celebrated among them.
