Jason Hinner

Jason Hinnerthe editor-in-chief of the technology site ZDNet, has left to become editor-in-chief and chief content officer of The Deep View, an artificial intelligence startup.

Hiner writes, “This is a big moment. It’s not just a new role, but an opportunity to build something that reflects where I believe the future of media is headed. Increasingly, it will be about deeper engagement with more specific audiences. The publications that will do well will be the ones that build direct, trusting relationships with their audiences.”

“During one incredible run bee ZDNET , CNET and TechRepublic, I learned how to earn an audience’s trust over time as we analyzed how technology was reshaping the world, from the Internet to smartphones and social media. And in recent years, no shift has been more profound – or more deserving of smart, critical reporting – than the rise of generative AI.

“That’s what attracted me The deep look. It’s a publication built around a simple belief: when you respect your audience, you go deeper. You cut through the noise, hype and buzzwords and focus on what really matters to the people shaping this transformation – and to those experiencing it. The fact that The Deep View has already won the trust of more than 600,000 newsletter subscribers is a testament to that approach.”
