Himachal Pradesh Moesson Havoc: Death Toll rises to 135, most victims in Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba

Important victims have been reported from districts such as Mandi (17), Kangra (16), Kullu (8) and Chamba (7) because of a series of natural disaster, including landslides, cloud bursts and sudden floods. Flash floods in Kangra, Cloudbursts in Mandi and landslides in Shimla and Solan have not only claimed lives, but have also caused enormous damage to houses, bridges, roads, livestock sheds and agriculture.

State registered 25 landslides, 40 flash floods

The monetary loss in the entire state is estimated at RS1.24.734.67 Lakh, with more than 540 houses completely damaged and thousands displaced. The State has registered 25 landslides, 40 flash floods and 23 cloud bursts in less than five weeks since 20 June 2025. In addition to human fatalities, 1,296 animals and 21,500 poultry birds have also died, which contributes to national need.

Damage to public infrastructure includes departments such as PWD, JSV, power, education, livestock farming and rural development. Authorities continue to perform rescue and auxiliary operations with the support of NDRF, SDRF and local teams. Several auxiliary camps have been set up and former Gratia payments are processed for the relatives of deceased and displaced residents.

The SDMA has urged the public to stay alert, to avoid land shifting zones and to follow warnings again, because the recovery of roads, bridges and essential tools remains a top priority for the administration.
