According to sources, the BSF had advance information that a Creta vehicle from Manipur, carrying drugs, would cross Assam as part of a smuggling scheme. The BSF’s border headquarters, based in Guwahati, collaborated with the NCB and quickly launched a planned action. The joint team intercepted the vehicle, recovered nine kilos of heroin and arrested the drug trafficker.
The arrested person, along with the seized narcotics and the vehicle, have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau for further legal formalities and investigation.
After the incident, a BSF spokesperson spoke to India Today and claimed that the successful operation was the result of smooth teamwork between the two agencies. He further appreciated the alertness and efficiency displayed by both agencies during the operation.
This is the second joint operation by BSF this week to arrest a drug peddler. Three days ago, BSF Jammu, in collaboration with Punjab Police, arrested a drug peddler and seized 80 grams of heroin, news agency ANI reported.
