Newcastle United is now rapidly approaching the end of 2025.
Half of the 2025/26 season is over.
Eddie Howe and his players have had an up and down season so far.
Changes have also been made to Newcastle United’s hierarchy.
So where do we stand?
Here’s my timeline of Newcastle United’s events this season, so far…
1. The cup-winning team finished in the top five with money in their pockets. This is going to be a great summer. The breakthrough transfer window!
2. Against the backdrop of the departure of influential top figures, our goalscorer puts down the resources and demands that he leave.
3. There is an echo of “no” “no” “no” as the club frantically tries to buy new players. Despite our success and money, none of Eddie’s top targets want to get involved.
4. We start the season without a goalscorer and CF.
5. Goals are difficult to achieve. There will be a need to rethink our playing style as BNW is clearly not a fast CF. However, his quality gives us some victories.
6. Our other investment is damaged, so we need to change our style. BNW is clearly not a CF and as such, defenders can challenge him at any point, knowing he can’t turn them around and run. Meanwhile, in London, Callum Wilson has barely missed a game (ED: Wilson has started six games so far) for West Ham….
7. Yoane Wissa is still not fit and the matches are coming soon.
8. The goalkeeper situation rears its ugly head again, with some poor decisions costing us points. The forced goal change makes things even worse!
9. We are still unable to field our preferred starting XI due to injuries and fitness.
10. 433 It seems that this is not the answer if the Newcastle United team do not press from possession.
11. We flit from a great performance to a terrible performance for no apparent reason.
12. Still no news on the field or on the training ground. The momentum stalls.
13. Merry Christmas (to those who support other teams), as it seems we are going backwards.
So from 1 to 12, which ones are on Eddie Howe’s doorstep and which ones aren’t?
