The Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks don’t appear to meet on key dates until 2025.
Earlier this year, the two Eastern Conference clubs faced off in their first game of the season. Today, they’ll go head-to-head again as they take the hardwood of Madison Square Garden for a noon Christmas tipple.
In their Oct. 22 matchup, Jalen Brunson and the Knicks won 119-111 thanks to a stellar performance from the captain – 23 points, four rebounds, five assists – and OG Anunoby who put together an impressive night of 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Since then, New York has put together a number of winning streaks and sits at the top of the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Cleveland has played admirably even though they remain hovering around .500 and on the playoff bubble.
On a macro level, this game will be the 58th (!) time the Knicks have played on Christmas. Although they have an unblemished all-time record of 25-32, they had reason to celebrate in ’23 and ’24 after beating the Bucks and Spurs, respectively.
