Former UFC star Henry Cejudo is teasing the idea of ending his combat sports retirement, but it wouldn’t be for a return to mixed martial arts.
As we know, Henry Cejudo has now walked away from MMA for the second time after his loss to Payton Talbott. While ‘Triple C’ certainly showed a lot of courage in that match, it was clear that there was a gap between the two in terms of skill level. Cejudo is at a point in his career where it feels like it makes sense for him to walk away, while the likes of Talbott go on to bigger and better things.
During his run, Henry Cejudo accomplished some wonderful things, including becoming a two-weight world champion. Before that, he managed to win an Olympic gold medal in his amateur wrestling days, something that many incredibly talented American wrestlers have not been able to do over the years.
In a recent exchange on social mediaHowever, Henry Cejudo suggested that he might be convinced to compete under the Real American Freestyle umbrella.
Henry Cejudo teases RAF performance
Cejudo: “RAF 04 was INSANE! So many upsets, crazy takedowns, pinfalls and even a few comebacks. I would love to see my co-host Kamaru Usman get in there and wrestle the champion @Carrchamp.”
Askren: “Henry, we’d love to see you there… We’re coming to Arizona soon. What do you say?”
Cejudo: “What is the Triple C worth to retire? [wink emoji]”
There is an interesting conversation to be had when it comes to discussing veterans competing after their time in the UFC. If they’re going to go any route, it certainly feels like amateur wrestling is best for their health, which we all want to see protected.
