Hell is us, Developed by Quebec’s Rogue Factor, is a pretty interesting game where I sing for hours and hours. When playing time just passed; I was able to sit down at 10 p.m. and suddenly it was 2 hours this not often, and this year there were only a few other titles that invested me like this, such as, like Clear obscure: Expedition 33 And Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Before the launch of Silksong, I was packed in the world of Hell is usAn action adventure game played in the third person. In this world you manage a soldier named Rémi (Refement Québecois) and fight you against supernatural creatures called Hollow Walkers, trying to learn about Remi’s mother and father, and the country in which he was born Hadea. However, there is a civil war between his palomist and Sabinian religious factions, which still seem to be in conflict, even when supernatural beings do not work and normal weapons do not work. I hope that if this happened in the real world, people would work together against the monsters, because this game reflects a lot of discrimination between his fictional religions.
Anyway, while trying to discover your past, you will find a range of weapons and skills to fight these entities while you learn about your past and where and why these monsters attack. The game is interesting and the atmosphere feels similar to Control With a dark atmosphere and secrets to discover. I loved the dark undertone of this world and sometimes the enemies can give you a leap, which I really like.
That said, the game is not too Georgeous and although it has some good environment, such as a field with a ton of blue flowers and a house on a lake at the far distance, you are often in caves that feel the same. The title is not completely open world, but some sections feel large enough, and some have verticality, whether you go underground or on top of a mountain.
I don’t find the main story intriguing. While the game continues, you learn much more about the most important story, but nothing of it kept my attention. However, I am quite curious how Hadea was infected by these beings. And the game is full of rich history about earlier wars, monarchies and more, and I have found this interesting to learn, and often they are applied to some of the puzzles that I like.
The title lacks a real card to use, goals and markers while playing. In the beginning I was pretty excited and I thought it was even compelling. When somewhere in the middle I started to get irritated because I didn’t know what to do. There were a lot of puzzles to find out, I kept getting lost and a bit confused. And when I got into the groove of the game a bit, the compelling experience returned and I started to learn a lot from the smaller regions in the title, so I stopped getting lost, and almost knew what to do, and at least had an idea to see where.
Hell is us Has a lot of puzzles that you have to sort out. While I have never played before Blue Prince And don’t really know much about the title, I saw my roommate play the game with a huge notebook, so that he can get acquainted with the instructions, and I felt a bit like I was doing the same in taking photos of certain instructions and writing notes on my phone. I am usually not someone who likes such games, because I am completely over the fight, but although fighting this title was not the best aspect, I was still quite involved.
Some puzzles concerned poems spread over a certain area, details in photos in a house, an e -mail on a laptop at a location is the indication that is needed to open a safe in another area. There were so many puzzles and indications that it is sometimes difficult to know what I have solved. The menus of the game are quite detailed and show exactly how certain instructions are related to some characters, but there was still occasional confusion. I also like how smart I felt after solving some of the more difficult mysteries.
And although the fight is not the best, it is sturdy enough my taste. Probably my biggest problem with fighting is a lack of arms variety, because there are only four species of weapons. And while I like to use the fast two -axes, I started to get bored halfway through the game and switched to the basic sword and Greatsword combination -because you can have two equipment unloading and switching in between. There are skills, called lymbic skills, you can adhere to weapons with glyphs, based on the lymbical atmosphere of the weapon. Lymbian bulbs are based on one of the damage types in the game, sadness, anger, extacy and terror. Grief tends to cause damage over time experiences, anger is about harming damage, ecstasy does great damage to your own life, and fear seems to be support, able to become invisible and can even cause damage to an enemy you are on, simply slowly away from their rescue force.
I found this interesting to learn about, but at the same time I think that only the use of regular status skills is more worthwhile. After hours and hours of play, I still don’t even understand all the status disorders and what happens if I suffer too much sorrow. Yet I had it nice to explore the different glyphs, and the drone of your character can also help, by improving Dodge, distracting enemies, blocking incoming projectiles and more.
I have seen complaints about the enemy species Hell is usBut I thought the variety worked for me. Some These enemies are called hollow walkers, who are (kind of) and are always aggressive towards the player. Often these walkers spawns into the world with a haze, who are monsters that take different shapes and colors, such as red for anger, green for fear, blue for sorrow and yellow for ecstacy. These waas samples come at different stages of difficulty, with a level three anger haze, is usually the most challeneing to beat.
While hikers are attached to a haze, they assume zero damage, so you first have to concentrate on the haze before you bring down all walkers, even though they hinder the player with attacks. You have to avoid, numb or distract walkers while you switch off the hazes, but sometimes a few hazes are surrounded by different walkers, and this will be a real challenge.
I like it Hell is usAnd had a lot of fun playing this new title. It is a pity that it is overshadowed by Silksong. I thought it was great to discover the solutions for puzzles, riddles and more. It was great to play in this Control-Like background, and I loved the jump fears around every corner. And although I prefer games with different weapons, there was enough variation to keep me interested, although the enemies were similar. The title can look a little better, and although it has a rich world and background, I was not too interested in the main character or his story. Still I would recommend Hell is us For everyone who likes to discover mysteries, who leads the player to more questions.
