Former England captain Heather Knight will miss the rest of the summer after a serious hamstring injury in a huge blow in front of Charlotte Edwards.
Knight suffered the problem during the preparation of half a century when England completed a 3-0 sweep from the T20 International Series against the West Indies in Chelmsford.
The subsequent scans have unveiled a “significant tendon injury” that the 34-year-old will set aside for June, July and August, although it will be hoped that she will be fit for the Cricket World Cup, which starts at the end of September.
Alice Capsey has been called to the one-day international team of England Prior to three more meetings with Witbal with the West Indies who start on Friday in Derby.
Knight lost the Captainincy after a disastrous 16-0 Ashes Whitewash in the winter, but underlined her interest with two excellent beats of no. 4 in the T20 series.
An undefeated 43 in the successful chase in Canterbury was followed by her 66 not in Chelmsford, with the former skipper left a considerable gap in the middle order.
“Her innings were quite special to get us to that totally, ultimately a competitive and winning score,” said Kapitein Nat Sciver brunt, from Knight’s Knock. “That only shows her class and experience.”
England will compete against India later in the summer, while Knight will also miss the hundred that the London Spirit had with the title last year.

Surrey Allrounder Alice Davidson-Richards and Lancashire opener Emma Lamb belong to those who can push in a place next to Capsey after they have been admitted to the ODI team.
