The former BCCI chief selector believes that Suryavanshi should at least be kept in the reserves of the national line-up and given a chance wherever possible.
“Look at Suryavanshi’s records. He is at a completely different level. He cannot be left behind. He needs to be accelerated soon. I heard news that Rahul Dravid said he should be accelerated now. I told this in the last IPL itself. Make sure he is in the reserve and give him a chance wherever possible. I don’t want them to let this guy go. In all honesty, he is an exceptional talent,” he said.
Srikkanth said Suryavanshi could form a deadly opening pair alongside Abhishek Sharma or Ishan Kishan.
“Imagine Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi opening. What a devastating pair they can be. Think about it. Or Ishan Kishan and Suryavanshi, or Ishan and Abhishek. These left-handers are more devastating and literally take the match away from you in the first six overs. That’s the way the team is. Suryavanshi will return to action on Friday, December 26, when Bihar takes on Manipur at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
