“He is only 26”: former oil with a valid point on threatening Skinner Trade

Goal tending in Edmonton comes with pressure that few players have ever confronted – and Stuart Skinner, despite all his mistakes – she has treated better than many expected.

“He has to deal with pressure that no one else is dealing with,” said former NHL goalkeeper Devan Dubnyk told The big show this week. “That is part of playing on a Canadian market, and he has done a very, really impressive task to deal with it.”

Despite a season of UPS and Downs, including some highlights and lows in the last two play -off runs for the oils, Skinner has been better than many fans give him the honor. The most important thing is that in just a few seasons he feels like a decade experience like a decade. It is the kind of experience that most NHL goalkeepers never get.

Perhaps the most impressive about his career is that, despite the downs, he has often found ways to mentally shake off the bad performances and to come back with Stellar Starts. He played in Playoff rounds with back-to-back shutouts and placed stable versions that brought his team to a second consecutive Stanley Cup-Laatste appearance.

Dubnyk emphasized the experience of the young goalkeeper: “He is only 26 and already has more playoff experience than three-quarters of the competition will ever. That is remarkable. And he just touches his prime.”

Devan Dubnyk Oilers Skinner

Fans looking for the oilers to exchange Skinner quickly forget how much he learned in a relatively short career. And as a wise person ever told me: “You never lose, you win or learn.” The assumption here should be that Skinner is learning.

“I think you’re going through the first time, you’re going through that experience in the summer and then you realize the things you did well and the things you didn’t do well,” Skinner said to NHL.coms Derek van Diest. “So go through it a second time, but being able to say that you have experienced this, helps you get over it faster, just because you have to go back to training and do it all over again.”

He comes from what he should do and what not to do. Skinner learns what works and what doesn’t. As the oilers who carry it away for slightly less than an obvious upgrade, they throw away all those valuable life and hockey lessons.

How long do the Oilers give Skinner?

If we take his age into account that he is in his prime, and that Skinner records lessons on the way that should contribute to becoming a better and more reliable goalkeeper, there is an argument that can be made to keep it in Edmonton.

Yet there are still questions about how long they have to wait before he learns if he will ever put all the pieces together. With expectations towering around stars such as Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the effort is enormous. The oilers are no longer in the window where they can afford to make a skinner “find out.”
