If the Dallas Mavericks choose to trade Anthony Davis, they reportedly have teams lining up with interest. The Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have all expressed varying levels of interest in acquiring Davis.
Atlanta is trying to find a trade for Trae Young. They could turn a Davis acquisition into a Young trade, with the guard serving as the main salary match in the deal. The Hawks could also use all the flexibility they gained from the Young trade to go after Davis, possibly with Kristaps Porzingis as a big chunk of the necessary outgoing salary.
The Raptors are interested in adding frontcourt help. They would have to return long-term contracts, something the Mavs are expected to want to avoid in a Davis trade.
It is difficult for the Warriors to come up with the matching salary for Davis. With Golden State unwilling to involve Jimmy Butler or Draymond Green, it’s almost impossible for them to trade for the Mavs’ big man.
The Bucks have said they plan to add talent around Giannis Antetokounmpo rather than trading their superstar forward. The Bucks may also have trouble coming up with the salary to match in deals, and they have little to offer the Mavericks in the form of draft capital.
