Pakistan Drew first blood in the three -match one -day international (ODI) series against the West -IndiaRegistering a heavily fought five-wicket victory in the opening meeting in the Brian Lara Stadium. West -India ‘Innings: a story about contributions, but no dominance
After the Pakistani captain Mohammad Rizwan won the Worp and Koos to bowling on a field that initially offered some help to the Pacers, the innings of West -India started a shaky start with Brandon King who left early for only 4 points. Despite these important individual contributions, West -India could not accelerate completely enough in the Death Overs, eventually out for 280 in 49 overs.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was admirably led by their most important pacers. Shaheen Afridi was the striking artist and tore through the West -India setup to claim 4 wickets for 51 points of his 8 overs, including King’s early breakthrough. Naseem Shah offered excellent support and took 3 wickets for 55 runs. The spider duo of Saim Ayub and Sufiyan Muqema, together with Agha Salman, threw each with a wicket, maintained pressure in the middle of the middle and ensured that the West India did not reach a totally achieved after the reach of Pakistan.
