Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the India Women’s National Cricket Team, was left quite angry after he was involved in a disastrous collision with star batter Harleen Deol on Sunday, October 12.

The 13th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 between the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India Women’s National Cricket Team and the Alyssa Healy-led Australia Women’s National Cricket Team is currently underway at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

During India’s innings, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was left fuming with star batter Harleen Deol after a mix-up as India tried to take their innings to a colossal score.

It all happened in the 35th over of the innings, which was bowled by Megan Schutt. On the fourth ball of the over, Harmanpreet Kaur mistimed a cut to the cover region and singled.

However, Harleen sent her skipper back when she was in the middle of the field, and Harmanpreet had to take a dive to get into the crease. This made Harmanpreet extremely furious and she threw a mouthful at her partner.

Then, on the fifth ball of the over, Harmanpreet hit a four off Schutt and went to bash Deol for the confusion on the previous delivery. It didn’t stop there as after hitting a four with the last ball, she calmly tapped Harleen Deol’s shoulder after shouting at her earlier.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It’s all about how you bounce back – Harmanpreet Kaur

Earlier, Alyssa Healy won the toss and Australia decided to bowl first in the match. During the toss, she said that they are excited to face a quality Indian team in front of the Vizag crowd. She said:

“We’re going bowling. Dewy in training last night. Hopefully we can slide with the bat. Just one change. Molineux are back and Wareham are missing. Good to have Soph back. At some point in the World Cups you just have to do what needs to be done and get the win. But when you come up against a really good opponent like India you have to put everything in order. My first time back in Vizag since 2011. Must be a great atmosphere. I have a bit of Aussie support. Girls love that.”

Meanwhile, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur stressed the need to come back stronger when the odds are against him and termed the presence of the large crowd as a big boost for the home side. She said:

“The pitch looks better than what we had in the last match. Same XI. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It’s about how you bounce back. We were there 95 overs into the match, lots of positives for us. They’ve always been important to us. It’s always been kind and cheering the team on day and night. The biggest part of our lives is getting this support.”
